Spring has sprung in The Gorge, at least it certainly seems that way a few days at a time.

Then it snows again. I'm not kidding..,.

Anyway, here are a few pics from the last couple of Sundays to prove both that Winter is finally over in the Columbia Gorge, and that I'm not dead, just yet anyway.

The fact that this is an outrageously scenic place and a great place to moto needs is a no-brainer.

Sunday, May 4. A shot of my SV650 taken on Glendale Highway, part of the super-secret Klickitat Country Canyon Loop. OK, it's not a complete secret. By the way, a well-sorted SV650 is a hugely entertaining device.

Sunday, May 4. Another shot from the 'wood highway. In short, the whole loop is backroad racetrack with stupid-pretty scenery.

Sunday, May 4. Same road, different spot. The road is full of these switchbacks and has new pavement. To coin a phrase I learned while living in Kalifornia, "it's choice", and I actually live right on the first segment (Canyon Road) and ride 26 miles of it daily. Each way. Yeah, I know, I suck.

Sunday, May 4. Spring also means the RV's come out of winter hibernation. Looks like this one should have slept in.

Sunday, May 4. The Coumbia on a rare calm day, and yet another vineyard outside of Rowena, OR on the opposite bank.

Sunday, May 4. The "spring flowers money shot". Lavender grows like mad around here, and it's abundance makes me happy I'm not prone to allergies, unless you count the ones involving honest work and fat girls. Those, I can live with.

Sunday, May 11. I think the "most pretentious bridge name" contest has a winner. Stevenson, WA.

Sunday, May 11. A look east, down the Gorge from Vista House in Corbett, OR. Yes, those three white dots to the right of the pic are people, and that narrow ribbon of gray at the bottom is I-84. When you're here, you're up in the air.

Sunday, May 11. Fun with Photoshop - a great crutch for photog's with little talent behind the lens.

Sunday, May 18. I liked my Suzuki SV650 so much I added it's mechanical cousin, the DL650 V-Strom to the herd earlier this year. I hated the way the stock V-Strom looked, so I ripped off the front end and generally screwed with some Japanese designer's idea of what an adventure tourer is supposed to look like. I like my version better, but there;s no accounting for taste, especially among those of us with little to none.

Sunday, May 18. The view facing south, and Bend, OR and Mount Bachelor, from Timberline Lodge, 6100' up Mount Hood.

Sunday, May 18.Another angle.

Sunday, May 18.The top of Mt Hood.

Sunday, May 18.. Back down off the mountain, cruising through the pear orchards of Parkdale, OR. Hood in the background, of course.

Sunday, May 18. Mmmmm..... Beer...... The bar at Timberline.
